NYCC is hoping to grow our collection of burgees from domestic and international Yacht Clubs and we need your help! Our goal is to display the burgees in the renovated clubhouse. If you’re planning to visit another Yacht Club, we ask that you exchange an NYCC burgee for one of theirs. If the club you’re visiting has no exchange policy, we would appreciate your purchase of their burgee to donate to our collection.
How it works:
- Pick up one or more NYCC burgee(s) at the Fitness Center front desk.
- The fee is $30 per medium-size burgee which will be charged temporarily to the members account.
- If the yacht club you visit does participate in a burgee swap program, trade your NYCC burgee for a burgee from that yacht club. Be sure to photograph the "burgee swap" (see examples below).
- Please send your photo to NYCC's Communications Coordinator Leigh Knowles at [email protected]. You might be featured in the Ship & Shore newsletter!
- If the yacht club you visit does not participate in a burgee swap program, please purchase a burgee from that club and return the NYCC burgee to us.
- Upon your return, please bring the burgee you collected to the front desk of the main clubhouse. The burgee will then be given to NYCC's Burgee Collection Committee.
- When you drop off the burgee, please tell us your name, where you got the burgee, the date of your trip, and if you swapped it or purchased it.
- The member’s account will be credited for the prior amount charged for the NYCC burgee, if it was swapped for another yacht club's burgee.
We are also accepting donations of burgees collected in the past from other Yacht Clubs for our burgee collection. Deliver your burgee to the front desk of the clubhouse with a note of information that we can later acknowledge.
If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Wolcott at (757) 672-3625. We appreciate your participation in this exciting Club endeavor.
