CLUBHOUSE DRESS CODE
- The NYCC dress code is a tasteful, casual style that ensures an atmosphere of dignity and respect for fellow members.
- The Clubhouse persons should wear appropriate country-club attire, which excludes any clothing that is overly revealing or displays any hateful or obscene message. Appropriate athletic attire and appropriate jeans are permitted in the Clubhouse if suitable for the occasion. Gentlemen are prohibited from wearing sleeveless shirts at the Clubhouse, including outdoor terraces and fire pits.
- Headwear may not be worn inside the NYCC clubhouse except for medical, safety or religious purposes, or for approved special events. Medical and safety coverings are always acceptable. All other forms of headwear must be removed prior to entry by all members and guests regardless of gender.
HOUSE RULES
Section 1. The use of the facilities of the Club is available to members and their guests at all times during Club hours.
Section 2. Senior associates consisting of spouses of active members and dependents of active members 18 years of age or over have the same guest privileges as the active member.
Section 3. All guests must be accompanied at all times by an active member or senior associate unless prior arrangements have been made.
Section 4. Any active member or senior associate member of the Club entertaining a non-member as a guest of the Club shall be responsible for the proper conduct of such guest or guests while at the Club.
Section 5. Hours of operation of the main Clubhouse, bar and dining rooms are established by the Board of Governors and are posted in the main Clubhouse.

It is the responsibility of all members to ensure that they, their children over eight years of age, and their guests adhere to this standard of dress, whether indoors or outdoors. More specifically, in the Clubhouse persons should wear appropriate country-club attire, which excludes any clothing that is overly revealing or displays any hateful or obscene message. Appropriate athletic attire and appropriate jeans are permitted in the Clubhouse if suitable for the occasion. Gentlemen are prohibited from wearing sleeveless shirts at the Clubhouse, including outdoor terraces and fire pits. Headwear may not be worn inside the NYCC clubhouse except for medical, safety or religious purposes, or for approved special events (i.e. Kentucky Derby, Easter). Medical and safety coverings are always acceptable. All other forms of headwear must be removed prior to entry by all members and guests regardless of gender. In the Fitness Center and Tennis Pro Shop and at the outdoor pool, persons should abide by the additional clothing rules applicable to those areas.
Section 7. The smoking of cigars, cigarettes, pipes, and vaping devices is prohibited in all Club buildings, including outdoor terraces and fire pits, throughout the entire racquet sports complex, and at the outdoor pool. Exceptions may be allowed by Club management for approved special events such as cigar samplings, beverage tastings, etc.
Section 8. All food and beverage consumed in a Club building or elsewhere on the NYCC campus must be provided by the Club. The only exceptions are food and beverages consumed on privately owned yachts at the Club, and wine consumed in a club restaurant or stored in wine lockers.
Section 9. The Manager is not authorized to lend Club property to any member.
Section 10. The main Clubhouse will be closed on Mondays.
Section 11. Non-resident guest cards may not be issued for a period of more than two weeks in any six-month period unless otherwise approved by the Manager.
Section 12. Parking regulations in all areas of the Club must be observed. Only lined parking spaces shall be used when they are available. Speed limits for motor vehicles on Club property are 15 m.p.h. The reckless operation of any automobiles on the Club property is prohibited.
Section 13. No person under legal drinking age shall be served alcoholic beverages at any time on Club property. Any adult purchasing it for a minor is subject to expulsion from the Club.
Section 14. No payments to the Club, dues, fees, services, or otherwise, shall be made in cash by members or non-members.
Section 15. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein, the Board of Governors and House Committee reserve the right to refuse the granting of guest privileges to any person or persons when in the opinion of the Board or the House Committee the granting of such privileges will be detrimental to the best interests of the Club and its members.
Section 16. Children ages 12 and under are not permitted in 36° North. Children ages 13-17 are permitted in 36° North if accompanied by an adult member. Persons age 18 and older may enjoy 36° North unaccompanied.
Section 17. All cell phones should be placed in either “mute” or “vibrate” mode when entering any Club building. Talking on cell phones is prohibited in all indoor restaurant and bar areas and in all areas of the Fitness Center except the lobby. To talk on a cell phone, please step outdoors or into a lobby area. Talking on cell phones is permitted outdoors except when in group gatherings, other social situations, or in a situation where such talking is likely to disturb others nearby. E-mailing, texting, or other silent use of cell phones and other electronic devices is permitted throughout the entire NYCC campus, including indoor spaces.
Section 18: The Club’s membership directory, whether in electronic or printed form and including but not limited to e-mail addresses, shall be used solely to conduct official Club business and to allow members to communicate with one another in connection with Club activities, events, and operations or for personal social reasons. Neither the Club’s membership directory, nor any information taken or derived therefrom, shall be provided by the Club or any member to a non-member unless specifically authorized by the Board in writing in advance (and in any such case only for official Club business).The Club’s e-mail distribution list is maintained by Club management for its exclusive use and that of the Board and Committees for the planning and promotion of Club-sponsored activities and events and for official correspondence and pertinent news of the Club as approved by the Board from time to time. Any other use of any part or all of the e-mail distribution list, including but not limited to use by any member for personal gain, business or charitable purposes, or any other type of non-Club-related solicitation or promotion, is strictly prohibited.
Section 19. Signs or banners for third parties such as sponsors of, or contributors to, events organized by the Club are allowed only for sports events such as sailing, swimming, or tennis, only during the events, i.e., not in advance of or following the events, and only when approved in advance by the General Manager or, at the Board’s discretion, by the Board. Advertising at private events is limited to inside the room or at the entrance to the room; nothing may be outside. NYCC logos, photos, its name or other propriety collateral may not be used unless approved in advance by club management. Any public or private advertisement, mailings, social media or other promotional materials for a private event which references NYCC also requires advance approval of club management.
