Thank you for your interest in membership at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club. As Norfolk’s premier family-focused private club, we take pride in consistently delivering high quality personal service and providing an excellent value in a warm atmosphere of camaraderie for our members, their families, and guests. Our members are comprised of four generations, various professions, and differing backgrounds creating great camaraderie and diversity in our activities. All memberships offer full access to all services and amenities, including restaurants, tennis courts, fitness center, aquatics, waterfront, and social spaces. Application Process
All applicants for membership must be proposed by one and endorsed by two active members, none of whom shall be current Board members. Letters of support must be written by the proposer and both endorsers and each must also fill out a confidential sponsor questionnaire. Click here for guidelines in writing a letter of recommendation. The questionnaire will be provided to each sponsor directly by the Membership Director.
Upon receipt of the complete Membership Application by the Club with letters of support and completed questionnaires, each applicants name shall be posted on the official bulletin board for at least four consecutive weeks. Postings occur once per month after the Board meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month.
The Membership Committee reviews the applications and reports to the Board of Governors.
After consideration of all information forwarded by the Membership Committee, applicants for membership are reviewed and voted on by the Board of Governors at their monthly meeting.
Application Timeline and Prospective Start Dates The entire membership process can take up to 45-60 days depending on when we receive the application and is contingent on the date of the Board meeting, generally the 4th Thursday of the month. The completed application AND letters of recomendation must be in the office by the application deadline date.
